Redline? a stock GMC can't rev high enough to hurt itself lol.In bigger trucks, that series of engines usually has governors set around 3200 rpm.I bet the drivers ran them wide open against the governor.GMC's are supposed to be more rugged than Chevys.I had a 54 Chevy in high school. Used to run it wide open for miles in second gear trying for 60mph.Never blew and oil pressure guage never moved past the 10 psi mark. also never hit 60 in second.Just run that Jimmy wide open. Jim Proffit says the long motor can take it.
