A product called Devcon is very good for metal repairs like this. It's basically an epoxy/powdered metal mix. I've used it quite sucessfully on irrigation pump housing reairs for water erosion. Very machinable using hand or power tools. Made in different formulas Stainless Steel, Cast Iron, etc.
