I thought I needed a new rear main seal, but it turns out it has been done. The shop that did the work said it was leaking from the lifter gasket?? I have searched the Internet to no avail. What could they mean? Anyone know? It looks to me that the oil drips out of a hole in the red metal cover just behind the oil pan. It has a new oil pan gasket.
So whats a lifter gasket?
