Although not original, the bed cross sill-to-frame perches are a good idea. As stated above, it avoids the metal-to-metal contact. At 1/8" thick, the bed-to-cab alignment, is insignificantly effected.
Also, there is some flexibility in the elevation & alignment of the cab, so that is an option, when trying to get body-lines in order.
