Hy teddyjames, since nobody else wants to help you with your problem, I"ll give it a shot. If all you did was remove a shift rod to gain clearance, it should all just fall back together. I think the problem must be in the shifter box on the column. You have to put the shift lever inside the vehicle in the neutral position, if you can't something in the shifter box is stopping that. Start by putting the levers on the transmission in neutral, and see if that allows the shifter box to line up as it should, hope that helps.
