I have been using synthetic oil in all my vehicles for the last 26 years with excellent results. This includes the engine, transmission ( automatic or standard ), transfer case, and rear end. The gear lube I used to recommend was the 80W-90, but the newer 75W-90 has a higher film strength and has a pour point of -50 degrees.
