Fellas,
New, back in 1946, did Chevrolet put any kind of sticky,
probably spray on, insulation on the cab bed under the
gas tank before putting the seats in? I am doing the initial cleaning out of my 6400, mostly lived in by rats and mice for the past 20 years, and I had to remove the gas tank to get all their "detritus" out. There appeared to be a thick, masticy icky "something" adhered to the steel. I am scraping it clean but when I am ready to reinstall the tank should I be applying any type of sound or insulative mastic over the paint and under the tank? What is the best best best way to deal with the inside cab corners that always seem to rust out. Mine are not rusted through but I want to get years of use for all this work so any thoughts??
