I took my bearing to a local bearing shop and was told the "groove" in the race was supposed to be there (it's where the balls ride) and he said the bearing was fine. Somewhat doubtfull, I checked other bearings from my other 1 ton parts trucks and every one was the same. I greased them up and everything went back together perfect. So unless yours is really trashed, it's probably still good.
