back in the day the engine number was used as the "vin" on the title for state registration purposes, but the tag number and the engine number are 2 different things, the tag id's the specific vehicle for GM's purposes, the other id's the engine only .... yes, your tag indicates a 55 1st series truck and the engine number indicates an engine made in 55
