Since your new pickup runs,
Fly out to Arizona with credit card, cell phone, AAA membership, fanbelt, radiator hoses, spark plugs, points and condenser and a few basic tools in your duffel and drive that puppy home. Chances are you will make it just fine, and if you have a breakdown you can't handle, rent what you need at that point. Be prepared to buy a new spare tire when you get there.
No matter what happens you will have a story and pictures to show and tell the rest of your life.
