I want to get a 1955 Chevy 6400 in TX and have one dillema. There is no seat belts. I know that this is how they came and that is probably why kids in those days were tougher and right with the lord! I have found some 3-point seat belt sets that you can install yourself that include seat belts and the entire mechanism for around $300 per set and about $60 per lap belt set for a total of just under $700+Shipping, but I have no idea how to install them. I want a single lap belt in the middle, but 3-point seatbelts on the driver and passenger side. Do you just drill some holes for bolts of the mechanism to go in, or does it require some welding? Can I get the seat belt and mechanism for cheap if I get them out of a junkyard truck? I am stumped. Anything is helpful.
