Just curious...are you using Holley/Webers or some other configuration. I was told that the Holley/Weber carb was a good single carb for the stock cammed 235 and that the Carter/Weber, with a lower cfm, was recommended for use in pairs on a stockish 235.
I'm currently running the C/W pair on my fresh 235 and haven't had any problem when the secondaries kick in. I put on a fuel pressure regulator and gauge and found that 3-3.5 psi made my C/W's happier than full pump pressure.
H.R.L has hit it on the button....a lot depends on the total setup and it just sounds like maybe if you're running the H/W's you're just over-carbed.
