Those are most excellent photos.
Someone else will have to help identifying that "later" manifold. However, here is some information and observations.
I do not know when the horn-mounting "boss" was eliminated; however, I know it was no longer needed on trucks in 1954. I cannot recall if an undrilled horn boss was still on the truck's intake manifold in 1954 (I'll check). I do not know when the car intake manifold stopped having a horn boss.
The bottom manifold in the "Compare" photo has a location and boss for the vacuum-wiper fitting that is different from any I have seen up through 1961 (I have not seen later 235/261 intake manifolds).
