This same thing happened to me several years back on a 59 gmc. The shop told me the same exact thing, that I needed a new yoke. I didn't believe them. I replaced the u-joints, and was good for another 50,000 miles. Evidently had slipped a needle bearing on installation.
Check with 4 the usual 4wd shops in your area... I am sure they could hook you up with the right yoke. Is that a fixed yoke, or a slip yoke?
