I took the head off of my 235 (54) and had hardened valve seats, head planed and checked, cleaned, new valves, new push rods, new springs the works and reinstalled myself with new gaskets all for around $400.00. One thing I would do if I did it over again was pull the pistons up and replace the rings. Still not big bucks.
