I just bought a 54-55 gmc straight 6 250 truck
(no bed) in time to store it for the winter.
I have driven it VERY little to this point.
On my way to the storage garage (8 miles) the truck began to lurch, jerk and I had very little power. It did fine for 7 + miles, inches from my destination.
The engine sounded like I was flooring the accelerator while in 2nd gear - - strained.
There was oil near the two spark plugs closest to the firewall, oil on the ground 4-6" diameter.
Within minutes, it started up fine, and I got to the storage garage.
I am very green to this truck and the older ones in general.
Where do I start?
Rear seal? A choke issue? (it was pulled half out on a 55 degree day)?
Ideas of where to start?
Thanks,
zan
