IMHO:
Forget the "X" pipe, it's not necessary for performance gains with a stock or mild 235 and you'll lose that distinct "Chevy 6 in heat" sound that most of us love.
Porter's and Smitty's have been popular muffler choices to use with Fenton's since back in the 50's. They'll sound great. Agree not necessary for performance gains but if you plan to drive your vehicle any distance, lots of 1k and 2k trips like I do that noise gets old remarkably fast. The X-pipe I have has really quieted down my '56 yet it still sounds good.
