The heater core is a concern, but some of the early-style radiators don't work well with higher-pressure caps, also. I'd consider a 7# cap to be a maximum. Every pound of pressure raises the boiling point of the coolant 3 degrees, so going from a 4# to a 7# cap only gives you 9 degrees of extra boil-over protection.
