Yesterday, members of my auto mechanics class competed in a regional skills contest, Top Tech 2004, sponsored by the Tennessee Army National Guard. They competed in Engine Diagnosis, where a non-running engine was repaired and started against time, and in a NASCAR-type pit stop wheel change, also against the clock.
Top honors in the engine repair category went to my team! In a runoff for 1st. place, my team diagnosed, and started the engine in a record-breaking 27 seconds! Good work, guys! Each member of the winning team was awarded a $2,000.00 scholarship to Nashville Auto-Diesel College, one of the best automotive trade schools in the country!
