The filter you have pictured looks like one that Chevrolet listed for all 6Cyl engines from 1938-1957. It was also available for 58-59 Ser3, and 60-62 Ser 10 through Ser 30 (6cyl), (exc DD). It was an optional bypass filter made by AC. The AC number is AC-PF-117 Type S-2 (2 qt cap).
The GM part number was 5572425.
