The easiest way of all is to buy a tap large enough to grab the bearing and just turn it into the bearing with a wrench until it bottoms out on the crank shaft flange, then continue to turn it until it runs up the tap and comes totally out. No messy grease, no toilet paper (that's one I haven't seen before), just a mechanical extraction solution.
