Yeah...the screwdriver idea works real well as long as you are CAREFUL...keep it away from ANYTHING electric...especially the generator...6V will give you quite a RAP, escpecailly if you have it rear your head...watch glasses too...You don't want them to arc weld to your HEAD...
On the brushes, I got mine for my wife's 54 at NAPA, about $2 each...
