Hello, my name is Dan. I have been tinkering with Jeeps for about 10 years, I have always wanted an old 60's Mopar, but that didn't happen lol... I recently acquired a 1946 Chevy Cabover. It is pretty clean, externally, some spots where a fender split, and was welded back. On both sides of the vehicle, it has riveted plates below the door saying 18,000lb GVWR.
It has a lot of character and potential in my eyes, but what my mind and eyes see is held back to what I can actually do. I have been reading quite a bit, but still feel a bit lost.
It came with a War Department Technical Manual, printed in the 40's, I need to read it front to back.
There is one spot of cancer, a low point inside the cab where it looked like water accumulated. It is in an intricate corner of the cab where the left foot would be placed when driving, I would love to make it whole again but have no idea on rust abatement and repair.
The cab over itself is intact. There isn't a bed, some old mounts to where a flatbed may have been placed.
I was told the truck was driven about 8 or so years ago. And have receipts that show random spring hanger weld repair, used tires, misc gaskets. I'm really hoping that I can put a battery in,, some fresh gas and get it going again..
Were these COE's a 6 Volt set-up? I have no clue as there wasn't a battery inside.
The Vin says 6PSB.
