hello everyone, i just bought my 1938 chevrolet 1/2 ton and want to get the correct license plates (OEM) for it. does anyone know which are the correct plates for califonia?
are these the correct plates?
plateI used to know this trivial stuff, but time has gotten the best of me. From what I recall, the plate you have is for a pneumatic compressor (fancy name for an air compressor) I bet you only have one plate because these were attached to trailers. You will need two plates for your truck. If you indeed have two plates, then it will be acceptable to be used on your truck if it is not being used by anyone else. I believe that California DMV requires two plates whereas some states only require one if that's the way they originally came.
This guy did a nice write up and should be helpful to you and others that are trying to use old plates on their trucks.
BTW: From what plates I have seen on old trucks, it seems that California DMV doesn't care if you use the original commercial plates or not. I guess as long as they get their extra fees who cares!
