Hey all! I am planning to pick up my 1937 1.5 ton (DRW) in the next week or so. The truck is a little over 100 miles from my house, so I am trying to take everything with me that I need. I am trying to predict if I will be successful with my trailer. Width between fenders on my trailer is 78". From what I see on the GM Heritage Center shop manual scan, the distance to the middle of the duals should be around 66 1/32 inches. There is no diagram of the front axle widths, so I have to guess a bit. Usually the center of the duals is lined up with the center of the front wheels, so the distance from center of front tire to center of front tire should be around 66." My quick math is saying that the 66 inch centerline + 6" or so (1/2 a 6" tire per side) should be around 72". Can anyone tell me the width on their 37 Chevy 1.5 ton front axle from outside of wheel to outside of wheel? Also, how much do the rims stand proud of the tire on the front axle? If the width at the lugs is less than 78", I should be good to load. If it's over, I'll have to build up the trailer deck with blocking while loading to get the hubs of the front axle over the top of the fenders. Not impossible, but I'd rather take wood with me than make it too exciting. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
