The split rims that pretty much no one will touch are the ones that the locking ring in the center of the wheel. And it's hard to tell if there locked in. Those are the true widow makers. The ones with the split ring and locking ring on the outside are a lot safer. As long as you find a older tire guy with his own small tire business you shouldn't have any trouble getting those mounted.
