I found this fairly original 1951 3100 half-ton stepside locally. Body looks good, had some restoration work done but I’m going to leave that alone for now. I am told the truck originally came from Texas, that makes sense since it is pretty decent shape for a 60-year-old truck. From Texas it made it’s way to Missouri where it was work truck on a horse farm. It’s now located in coastal North Carolina where it will carry my surfboard to the beach.
Engine is the 216 with a three speed. That is where some of my efforts are currently focused. I was able to find a really nice 235 out of a second-generation ’55. Also started hitting junk yards and found a T-5 transmission from an S-10 and a Camaro rear end. I’m also replacing other little things that were neglected throughout the years. Not in any rush to get it finished, it drives ok now, you just can’t be in a hurry to get anywhere.
So far it’s been fun to work on. The forum has been a huge help and a great resource for parts and know how.
