The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop rusty mig wire

I got a used Solar 2175 Mig Welder last year, and it had been sitting in a damp garage before i bought it. I'm getting it ready to put a floor in my '56. There is a big spool of wire in the machine which is is rusty on the out side--seems to me I should unspool the rusty wire down to clean wire and not run rusty wire through the machine. Thoughts? Also is there anything else I should check given its former dampness before I fire it up? It has been in a dry room for a year now.
