If you have any original rubber (or anything pre-about 1990) in your fuel system, it will be susceptible to Ethanol deterioration. The rubber filler extension and the rubber hose at at the bottom of the tank should be replaced with modern rubber compounds. If you really get hung up on venting, you could rig up a system to vent the tank through the front passenger stake pocket in the bed.
