For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 12 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 12 | A friend's truck has been making a screeching noise on upshifts (especially 4 high to 5 high) and when the engine out revs the governor (on downhills) i.e., beyond 2300 rpm. We thought it might have been the belts, but we changed both of them and tightened the alternator. But is this noise coming from the clutch? And if so, what could be the issue?
Engine is a Detroit 6-71 and the tranny is a Spicer 5-speed.
Thanks for any help
Cheers, Grizz
