Hy Nielsen, welcome, the dwell should be 38 - 45 degrees, set new points to .019", used points .016". The tall distributer cap should be Napa p/n ECH RR162, unfortunately it looks like a 1953 GMC distributor could have a short or tall cap, at least according to my Echlin catalogue, hope that helps.
