As for your wiper dilema , I just changed mine over to an electrical conversion.
Should you require it (and being originally from the UK so I know it rains like hell there) so you will. My advice is swap over too the electric ones. Or put in a vaccum reservior. That way when you accelerate your wipers wont stop. I used a old little camping Gas cylinder with a nipple soldered in the just hid it under the truck.
