If you want to do a V6 conversion the 4.3L is probably the best choice. Its based on the SBC 350. Same bore and stroke. The same valve train and timing chain. They run forever. Good power and good mpg. Easy to get parts for. Japanese V6s are too low on torque and have to rev too high to be a good truck engine unless you gear them way down. Not worth it. The Chevy/GMC 4.3 is by far the best. I have owned 3 of them. They frequently run over 300,000 miles and keep going like the Ever ready bunny! H.
