no the lights will not work without 2 wires on the switch, one from a power source and one to the rear lights - when you press the pedal the switch allows contact to allow power flow to the lights
real good idea when you get a truck with rats nest wiring to either sort it all out properly and get rid of any extra useless stuff or better, just strip it all out and install it all new, you'll really hate it if a fire results from the mess
