The original engine serial number would have been stamped, not cast in that same location. A replacement engine would have had no serial number, allowing the engine/block to be stamped when used as a replacement in a state that registered (and/or titled) a truck using the engine serial number.

GMONIZ's suggestions seems very reasonable.

What is the ID on your title/registration (it could be an engine ID/serial-number or the vehicle/cab ID/serial-number)?
