so, I have an all original 52 , I think it is a " heavy half ton" as it has helper springs and 4 speed. It doesn't like much above 40 mph, and I hate to keep that old splash-lube 216 winding that high. My buddy has a 52 with the 3-on-the-tree tranny and no rear helper springs. It runs out nice at 55MPH , much more highway friendly.
My question is if the difference is simply in the tranny or did they use different rear end gearing in those years??
