It doesn't really matter which carb was original for the 302, unless you are going for complete originality. Tell us a little about your project as you already have many of us salavating over that 302!
The 302s are great engines and can be ran with a variety of different fuel setups. The Military version had a super low compression ratio... 6.5:1 so it could run on 67 octane gasoline. The Low compression ratio Military blocks almost begs for a blower, giving you 200+ hp. With other modifications it is not uncommon to see these 302s running with a 4bbl or even multicarburation with 2- 5 2bbl carbs, or fuel injection.
