They can be rearched 1" or 1 1/2" or any other height you want. You can do this yourself if you choose, lots of information on the net on how it's done. I paid a spring shop to rearch a set awhile back and asked if I could watch them do it, I was surprised they let me walk back into the shop area. It wasn't exactly rocket science, they drew an outline of each spring with chalk on the floor then they laid the spring between 2 anvils and proceded to whack away at it with a sledge until it took the shape they wanted!
