thanks guys for the info.Paulweldit you were right on the money with the teeth count;168 on the old 400 flywheel.I got a guy at work that swears the flywheel on my 283 will fit the 400.I have my doubts giving the difference in the two engines. I have not pulled the 283 out yet,just got it ready to pull.I will use the belhousing from the 283(if it fits the 400) so I guess i'll have to use the 283 starter(bolts to belhousing)Any other feedback is welcome & again thanks for the first round Ray
