The inliners.org casting code lists show that block to be a 1942-49 235. I have seen heard, and have seen some photographs, that the oil pans for those early 235s had a "235" stamped in the sheet steel on the side of the pan. Those engines had the same bore and stroke of the later 235s, but used the low-pressure lubrication and high push rod cover as the 216s.
