Hy Guys, according to The Illustrated History of Trucks and Buses, by Denis Miller, the production of Maple Leaf trucks by General Motors of Canada began in 1930 and ended in 1948. I know that the end date is wrong, Maple Leaf trucks were produced until at least 1950, I know this because I have one. Maple Leafs were 2 1/2 ton and 3 ton trucks which wore the Chevrolet Marque. In 1939 GMC released a new engine with full precision bearings, after this point all 3 ton Maple Leafs were powered by GMC engines, for some reason the 2 1/2 ton trucks continued to be powered by the Chevrolet truck engine of the period. Maple Leaf trucks do not have a special serial number designation, but rather the 2 1/2 ton is reffered to as a 16 series, and the 3 ton as a 17 series, I hope that helps.
