Close to right, George. The change started in '54.
One other problem with the conversion if the truck was a factory 283. The radiator support is too far aft for the six cylinder engine. Since it also supports your fenders, you will have to cut it out, leaving the fenders supported and install another one in the 6 cylinder position.
