Don't ask anybody what they think when you are creating something.
It will stifle your creativity. As long as it's not a safety issue and only cosmetic, do what you want. You may be the only guy in the world that likes what you've done, but it's your own. The only consideration might be at resale time. Then anything that is too personalized will limit potential buyers.
