I'm assuming that your panel is a Chevy or GMC? If so, I'd go with a Chevy engine and transmission. Much easier to install and parts wise. The major factor would be "resale". If and when you do sell it, you'll a larger range of "buyers" because it's Chevy thru and thru.

BTW, I have a project Burb that (hopefully) I'll be starting the conversion soon. Mounting the body on a '00 GMC chassis and running gear. Here are before and now pictures.
