why use the skid strips? why leave the wheel tub flanges exposed? if you're piecing it anyway, why not just use one large piece between the wheel tubs [4'] and 4 well-fit pieces front and back of them?

or maybe I should ask what are you covering up, and if it's bad enough, why not remove the old floor and replace it?
