Are you referring to the points with the adjusting screw that's accessed through a small window in the side of the distributor cap? It's nothing more complicated that a 1/8" Allen wrench. There is a tool that includes a flexible cable with an Allen wrench attached to the end of it that gives you some more working room. Any LGS should have one in the specialty tool section, or be able to order one on short notice. A quick no-dwell-meter adjustment on the V-8 models is to turn the adjuster clockwise until the engine misses or stalls, then back off exactly 1/2 turn. You'll have 30 degrees of dwell at that spot.
