After recently hooking up a new repo speedometer cable it started squealing intermittingly.
I removed the inner shaft and lightly greased it and reinstalled. Still squealed intermittingly.
Is the brass sleeve supposed to butt up against the Speedo housing?
Here is a pic of the inner cable installed as far in as it can go.
inner cable pic The brass colar is about 1/2 away from housing.
pic 2...... Am I suppose to cut the inner and leave maybe 1/8 clearance for the inside?
Like I said it’s a repo speedometer cable. I don’t know where it was ordered from. It was in a box of parts I had been given. Also the speedometer is used and refaced by myself.
The spedometer in the pic is a spare I used for demo.
Thank you
