no need for numbers on this one. just look at the lifter gallery covers or fuel pump/motor mount location on pass side. if the covers are 6" it's a 292 if the are 4" it's a 250. if the motor mounts are straight across from each other it's a 250 if the pass side one is foward a bit, it's 292. i have had people argue casting numbers before when i bought a engine, i don't even try any more. as long as you know what you got it's fine.soon you will be able to spot them from a mile away. now a 230 and a 250, different story!
