Ok I confirmed that they did make to different hinges for the suburban ad the parts manual states.
Unfortunately, mine are welded in :mad: I knew there was a reason I was looking for a set. I have not opened the rear hatch for a while.
I do not think it will be a problem to install the later model hinges in the 48. I will search this out, but if GM could do, why can't we? It's not that big of a difference. The end gate lid uses both of the hinges so it is only the top header that needs modification. I did a little digging and I have an extra set of the later hinges, so far no early hinges.
