Hi to all.
Just registered and wanted to say hello. last week I took delivery on a 1942 Chevy 3/4 ton with the 4 speed Muncie trans.
Truck is a true barn find, so I have spent most of the last week cleaning out the mouse nests, seed hulls, cat hair, other debris, and mostly just the God awful smell. There is surprisingly little rust so I'm pleased about that, but the mice did a lot of damage anyway.
The 216 has had someone attempt to start it without freeing the valves first, so the push rods are badly bent on cyls 2 and 5. I intend to replace the 216 with a 235 so the engine issues won't be a problem.
My research indicates GM only made 140 3/4 ton pick ups in 1942 so I suspect this is a rare bird.
